What TikTok Shop asks for

  • Live where you sell

    TikTok says you must reside in the country you choose for your shop. A VPN or a friend’s address will get the account suspended.

  • Names must match

    The bank account name must match your legal name (individual) or the registered company name (business). Mismatches are the top reason for rejection.

  • Individual vs business

    The US, UK, Mexico and Southeast Asia accept individual sellers with an ID. Brazil needs a CNPJ, and local EU shops need a registered business.

Can I open a US TikTok Shop from another country?

Not as a local seller. You need a US address, an SSN or ITIN (or an EIN for a business) and a US bank account. Non-US brands use TikTok’s invite-only cross-border program.

Do I need a business to sell on TikTok Shop?

Not in the US, UK, Mexico or Southeast Asia, where individuals can sell with an ID. In Brazil you need a CNPJ, and an MEI is enough.

How old do you have to be to sell on TikTok Shop?

At least 18. The account holder, or the business’s representative, must be an adult.

How long does approval take?

Usually a few days. If a document fails review, TikTok emails you to resubmit it.
