The referral fee is charged on the price after seller discounts. Refunds and taxes are not modeled.

How the minimum price is calculated

  • Fixed and variable costs

    fixed = product + shipping + other + ads variable % = referral fee % + commission % × creator share %

    Fixed costs are dollars per order. Fees and commission grow with the price.

  • Minimum price

    price = fixed ÷ (1 − variable % − target margin %)

    This is the price after any seller discount. Set the target margin to 0% to get the break-even price.

  • List price

    list price = price ÷ (1 − seller discount %)

    If you plan to run a discount, list higher so the discounted price still hits your margin.

Frequently asked questions

How do I price products on TikTok Shop?

Add product, shipping and ad costs per order, then divide by 1 minus the referral fee, creator commission and the margin you want.

Why not just add a markup to cost?

Fees and commission are a share of the price, so a simple markup underprices. This formula accounts for that.

What margin should I target?

Many sellers aim for 15–30% after all costs, so there is room for discounts and returns.
