TikTok Shop charges a referral fee on each order (6% for most categories in TikTok’s published US table; several seller guides report 8% since August 2026, so check yours), plus any creator commission you set. Amazon takes 8–17% by category (15% for most) plus $39.99 a month or $0.99 per item. Shopify charges 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment on Basic, plus the plan fee.

Frequently asked questions
How much does TikTok Shop take per sale?
TikTok Shop charges a referral fee on the buyer-paid amount before tax. TikTok’s published US fee table lists a 6% referral fee for most categories; several seller guides report 8% for most non-food categories from August 2026, so check the rate in your Seller Center. If a creator sold the item you also pay the commission you set, often 10–20%.
Is it cheaper to sell on TikTok Shop or Amazon?
On fees alone TikTok Shop is usually cheaper: 6–8% versus Amazon’s 15% in most categories. Creator commissions can close the gap, so compare both with your real numbers above.
Does Shopify charge transaction fees?
With Shopify Payments there is no extra transaction fee, only the card rate (2.9% + 30¢ on Basic). With a third-party payment provider Shopify adds a transaction fee on top.
Are marketplace fees charged on shipping?
Amazon’s referral fee and TikTok Shop’s referral fee are calculated on the amount the buyer pays, which includes shipping you charge. Free shipping keeps that base lower.
How often do these fee rates change?
