Break-even ROAS calculator for dropshipping
Know if a product can make money before you spend on ads. Enter your price and product cost to get your break-even ROAS and max cost per order.
Add fees, ad cost and monthly costs on the next screen.
Break-even ROAS = selling price ÷ what’s left per order after product cost and fees. Example: a $34.99 product with $21.44 left after costs needs a 1.63× ROAS to break even, so any cost per order under $21.44 is profit.
How the break-even ROAS calculator works
Contribution per order
price − cost − price × fee% − fixed feeWhat each order leaves you before advertising.
Break-even ROAS
price ÷ contributionThe return on ad spend where ads cost exactly what the order earns. Above it you make money.
Max CPA
max CPA = contributionThe most you can pay in ads for one order without losing money.
Payback time
upfront ÷ monthly profitHow many months of profit it takes to earn back samples, stock and content.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good ROAS for dropshipping?
Anything comfortably above your break-even ROAS. If you break even at 1.6×, a steady 2.5× is healthy. If you need over 3× just to break even, look for more margin first.
What is break-even CPA?
The highest cost per acquisition you can pay and still not lose money. It equals your profit per order before ads.
How many orders do I need to break even?
Monthly fixed costs divided by profit per order after ads. The calculator shows it as “orders to break even per month”.
Does this include returns and refunds?
Not separately. Add your expected return cost to the supplier cost to stay on the safe side.
